Making a difference in the veteran community is a passion for attorney Jim Swain whose firm is located in Roswell, Georgia. Jim is making this difference by assisting Veterans, their spouses, veterans’ widows and adult children of veterans and widows who assist their parents with long term care decisions in obtaining a misunderstood and under utilized long term care benefit from the VA, known as IMPROVED PENSION.
What is the IMPROVED PENSION benefit? Available to a veteran or a widow of a Veteran, it is a monthly monetary benefit for those who have 1) served at least one day during a qualified war period, 2) served ninety consecutive days of active service, 3) were discharged with a general or better than dishonorable discharge, and 4) met certain medical and financial criteria. The monthly benefit could be as high as $2,120.00.
However, not surprisingly, the VA’s application process is long and complex. Fortunately, our firm has been assisting Veterans and family members of Veterans with this process for over ten years while ensuring their estate, tax and Medicaid planning is also sound. Our firm takes a comprehensive and holistic approach to ensure that pension planning is the appropriate choice.
