The VA will continue accepting faxed applications into January with no current set date of discontinuance. We will keep all members informed as to when the VA stops accepting faxed applications. At that time, your choice for submitting a claim will be electronically, mailed, or by special delivery.
The 2021 VisPro upgrade will have some very special changes; the most significant is that it will be linked directly to the VA. This will allow the user to complete all forms while utilizing the many help icons for guidance, and with the click of a button, send the completed and signed forms directly to the VA in real time.
The VA has told us that this new process will decrease its actual application acceptance time to one day from the current average time of ten days. This will also generate a coded receipt to the user which can be saved electronically. In addition, all supporting evidence can be scanned and submitted electronically. Although the VA is still quoting an estimated time of 130 days for applications to be approved, we have been seeing turn around times as quick as 2 weeks in some cases.
If you have access to VBMS, you should be able to go into your client’s VA claim file and check the receipt of forms and supporting evidence the same day that the claim is submitted.
