The National Archives have been shut down for weeks and in some cases months due to the spread of the coronavirus.

Most of us use the National Archives website to obtain  DD-214’s and other military records. The National Archives is currently only processing requests on an emergency basis.  What are our options moving forward?

In many instances, records that are available in electronic formats may also be accessed directly by veterans, without involvement from NPRC through:

Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)  eBenefits application at https://www.ebenefits.va.gov/ebenefits/homepage 

Department of Defense milConnect application at https://milconnect.dmdc.osd.mil/milconnect/. 

Modern military medical records may be accessed through the VA’s Blue Button application at https://www.va.gov/health-care/get-medical-records/.

DO NOT USE ANY PAID SITES INCLUDING THE ONES BELOW.  THEY GO THROUGH THE SAME CHANNELS WE DO TO FILE FOR A CERTIFIED COPY OF A DD-214.
