VA benefits information in your records is or is expected to be matched with the following federal or state agencies to verify the accuracy of the information contained in VA records and/or the records of the other agency.

  1. Office of Personnel Management Civil Service Retirement Act and Federal Employees’ Retirement Act records,
  2. Social Security Administration Master Beneficiary records and income tax records for earned income.
  3. Railroad Retirement Board retirement and survivor benefit records.
  4. Internal Revenue Service income tax records for unearned income.
  5. Department of Defense records to verify a return to active duty, verify the amount of military retirement, and to obtain information concerning payments to veterans who are on Reserve Training Duty.
  6. Bureau of Prisons and Social Security Administration to determine if a beneficiary is incarcerated in excess of 60 days.
  7. Social Security Administration to verify the accuracy of eligibility to benefits from the Supplemental Security Income program.
  8. U. S. Department of Health and Human Services to assist the states in determining eligibility to public assistance                  programs.
  9. Department of Education to verify veteran status of applicants for financial assistance.
  10. Federal and State law enforcement agencies to determine if a VA beneficiary is a fugitive felon.
